Quantum Materials Research Group led by Prof. Guang Bian at University of Missouri, Columbia invites applications from outstanding candidates to fill one Postdoctoral Research Associate (PRA) position in experimental quantum materials and devices. The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possibility of extension subject to satisfactory performance.

An outline of the position is as follows:

·       Development of thin film and 2D quantum materials and their heterogeneous structures, demonstration of their fundamental properties, and development of devices and applications.

·   Experimental methods will include MBE, STM, ARPES, TEM, and other synthesis, microscopy, and spectroscopy instrumentation.

·   Qualifications: A PhD in experimental condensed matter physics or equivalent. Experience in MBE, STM, ARPES and transports is desired for this position.

The University of Missouri (Mizzou or MU) is a public land-grant research university in Columbia, Missouri. It is Missouri's largest university and the flagship of the four-campus University of Missouri System. MU was founded in 1839 and was the first public university west of the Mississippi River. It has been a member of the Association of American Universities since 1908 and is classified among "R1: Doctoral Universities – Very high research activity".

Quantum Materials Research Group focuses on precise fabrication and spectroscopic characterization of low-dimensional quantum systems and novel topological/functional materials. We are interested in various physical properties of these systems including their growth mechanism, electronic and magnetic structure, surface and interfacial physics, and quantum size effects. Our primary experimental techniques are molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES), and scanning tunneling microscopy (STM).
